PM Modi to IIT Delhi Graduates: ‘Keep Learning, Keep Solving

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 57th Convocation Ceremony of IIT Delhi on Saturday, congratulating graduating students and encouraging them to use their knowledge, curiosity and problem-solving skills to contribute to India’s growth.

The Prime Minister said the convocation marked more than an academic milestone. He urged students to see their degrees as a responsibility to help address the country’s needs and create solutions for the future.

PM Modi: Keep Learning and Stay Curious

Addressing the graduating students, PM Modi stressed the importance of continuous learning in a rapidly changing world.

He encouraged students to keep their curiosity alive and develop the habit of learning throughout their careers. According to the Prime Minister, technological changes are transforming industries and creating both challenges and new opportunities.

He also urged students to question ideas that are accepted without much thought. However, he added that questioning alone is not enough. Young professionals must also have the courage to find practical solutions.

‘Life’s Biggest Challenges Are Out of Syllabus’

One of the key messages from the Prime Minister’s address was that life does not always follow a predictable path.

PM Modi told the graduates that, unlike academic examinations, many of life’s biggest challenges are “out of syllabus”. He encouraged them to identify problems that society may have stopped questioning and then work toward solving them.

He said an IIT degree represents more than academic performance or a good placement. It reflects the ability to tackle difficult problems with confidence and discipline.

Self-Reliant India

PM Modi also highlighted India’s push toward greater self-reliance in areas such as technology, industry and the economy.

He said empowering young people is essential for building a Viksit Bharat. The Prime Minister pointed to emerging opportunities in sectors including space technology, semiconductors, drones, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, critical minerals, deep-sea exploration and energy security.

According to him, these emerging sectors can provide young Indians with new opportunities to innovate, build businesses and contribute to national development.

Research and Innovation Take Centre Stage

The Prime Minister highlighted the growing importance of research and innovation in India’s development journey.

He referred to initiatives such as the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship and the Anusandhan National Research Foundation, while stressing the need for stronger research capabilities.

PM Modi also highlighted the One Nation One Subscription initiative, which aims to improve access to international research journals for students and researchers across the country.

Careers and Placements

PM Modi also advised graduates not to measure their success by comparing salaries, placements or startup achievements with their peers.

Instead, he encouraged them to focus on personal growth and well-being.

His message was simple: career success should not become a race against others. Students should focus on improving themselves and making meaningful contributions through their work.

IIT Delhi to the World

The 57th convocation marked an important transition for graduating students as they move from academic life into professional careers, research, entrepreneurship and other fields.
